Attack On Titan Voice Actor Announces Sudden Hiatus

05/04/2017 11:44 pm EDT

It looks like Attack on Titan may have gotten the best of one voice actor. In the anime industry, Yoshimasa Hosoya is a fan-favorite voice actor who brings a slew of popular characters to life. Aside from playing Reiner from Attack on Titan, the voice actor also lends his talents to Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans and Digimon Adventure Tri. However, it seems like work has finally crept up on the busy star. Over on Hosoya's website, the actor has announced he will be taking a one-year hiatus to treat his irritate throat.

A brief message was posted to the actor's website detailing his decision to go on break. You can read a translated version of the note below:

"I would like to express my gratitude to fans for your continued support.

At this time, Hosoya Yoshimasa will be on hiatus while he gets throat treatment after receiving a doctor's diagnosis.

I am sorry and deeply apologize for everyone concerned. I will be forced to restrict some appearances to comply with the medical treatment.

However, I plan to return within the year. At that time, I would like fans to continue providing similar support and patronage. I humbly thank you."

Of course, fans have already started to ask what Hosoya's absence means for series like Attack on Titan. After all, the show did just start airing its second season last month, and a handful of episodes are still slated to premiere. However, fans don't need to be worried about any delay. Attack on Titan seems to have finished its main VA recordings already, so Hosoya should be done providing Reiner's lines for the anime.

Our thoughts are with the actor as he undergoes treatment at this time. We wish him a speedy recovery!

The synopsis for Attack on Titan's new season can be read here:
