San Diego Comic Con had plenty of news to break, and Netflix was responsible for a good chunk of them. The site brought projects like Stranger Things and Death Note to audiences, and anime fans were interested to see how the latter would go over. Reviews for the film have been mixed so far, but one undeniably good thing did come from the film's early screening.

You know, since the original Death Note artist penned a poster for the live-action movie and all.

The poster, which can be seen above, will look familiar to Death Note enthusiasts. Takeshi Obata penned the artwork in his traditional style, and it features Nat Wolff's westernized iteration of Light. The image shows the pale lead as he holds up a glistening red apple, and Ryuk the Shinigami can be seen sequestered behind a chain-link fence. The creature is shown holding up his famed Death Note, and the following tagline is penned at the bottom:

"Don't trust Ryuk. He is NOT your pet. He is NOT your friend!"

What if you had the power to decide who lives and who dies? We suggest you obey the rules. Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone's name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.

Death Note will be available to stream on Netflix beginning August 25, 2017.
