Dragon Ball Super Episode 85 Synopsis Teases Goku, Buu Battle

04/03/2017 04:48 pm EDT

It has been awhile since Goku had reason to fight Majin Buu, but the fighter is about to see that change. Over on Dragon Ball Super, the Saiyan is busy gearing up for the most important martial arts tournament of his life. The Omni-Kings have set up the deadly multiverse event to cull what they consider to be primitive worlds - and Goku's home is under direct threat. To save his home, Goku started to recruit warriors to fight for Universe 7, and the process will force the hero to go head-to-head against Buu.

In the next episode of Dragon Ball Super, fans will watch as Goku fights Mr. Buu who has been up to special training. The pink alien wanted to get in-shape for the Tournament of Power after facing off against Universe 9 in a previous exhibition match. Buu's training has prompted the fighter to go through an intense transformation which sees him loose his pudgy figure. To test his newfound power, Buu wants to go up against Goku, but it looks like their battle won't go quite as planned.

You can read the episode's synopsis below:

"Before the tournament begins, the "gods" sound each other out?!

The Kaioshins of each universe gather before the Tournament of Power! Although some suggest requesting the Omni-King to reconsider, opinions differ and they are unable to form a plan... Meanwhile, all the Gods of Destruction besides Beerus gather too, and hatch a scheme targeting Goku's home, Universe 7?!

Take down Goku?! The Kaioshins and Gods of Destruction for each universe gather!!

Gohan goes to recruit Piccolo! Gohan visits his martial arts master Piccolo to ask him to enter the Tournament of Power!

Buu This Week: sparring with Goku?!
Buu can't wait for the main event! His body has really shaped up as a result of his special training. He battles Goku in order to test out his current power, but?!"

Fans will also see what a precarious place Goku has found himself in with the rest of the multiverse. The hero has positioned himself as a go-to villain thanks to his bold desire for fighting; The rest of the universes simply want to save themselves. As such, the rest of the competitors are looking to make things more difficult for Goku by ganging up on the Saiyan, so the hero will want to recruit as many powerful fighters are possible.

Dragon Ball Super recently kicked off the 'Universal Survival' saga. You can check out the brief synopsis for it below:

"At Goku's request, the Omni-Kings' "Tournament of Power" martial arts tournament between universes now begins! …But this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquished…?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn out…?!"

Dragon Ball Super's "Universal Survival" saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
