Dragon Ball Super Episode 88 Synopsis Shows Gohan Reuniting With Piccolo

Even after all these years, it looks like Gohan still hasn't managed to learn everything he can from his former master. Piccolo may not have any Saiyan blood, but the Namekian warrior is no pushover. Fans of the Dragon Ball series know just how powerful Piccolo is simply on a base level, and millions watched as Gohan worked to usurp his master's place in Dragon Ball Z. On several occasions, Gohan came close to unlocking his true potential, but the half-Saiyan was not able to sustain the power. However, it looks like the fighter will need to overcome whatever stopped him before.

After all, Gohan does have a universe to save.

Over on Dragon Ball Super, the anime is about to ramp up action for its 'Universal Survival' storyline. The Omni-Kings will soon host a massive multiverse martial arts tournament, and Gohan is one of the fighters sent to represent Universe 7. Should their team lose, the kaioshin will see their homes destroyed, and Gohan learned how powerful their opponents are during a recent exhibition match. To recoup lost training time, the hero will soon approach Piccolo to resume training after a long hiatus. So, naturally, the green-skinned alien isn't going to go easy on his former pupil.

You can read the synopsis for "Gohan and Piccolo! Master and Student Train to Their Limit!" below:

"While Goku went scouting for No. 17, Gohan visits Piccolo. Piccolo promised to give Gohan special training for the tournament."

Right now, there is no telling how the training session between Gohan and Piccolo will go. The latter has kept up his training while Gohan has deflated somewhat thanks to fatherhood. The half-Saiyan has been more busy playing Mr. Mom and studying to Chichi's delight, but he needs to shift gears now. Gohan seemed to be inspired a few episodes back when he watched his father fight head-on against warriors from Universes 9 and 11. So, in the coming weeks, the younger fighter will need to relocate the gumption that gave him the strength to pulverize baddies such as Majin Buu.

Dragon Ball Super's "Universal Survival" saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
