Dragon Ball Super Synopsis Teases First Fight Of New Story Arc

In the coming weeks, fans of Dragon Ball Super can expect to see plenty of thrilling fights. The anime recently kicked off a new arc known as the 'Universal Survival' saga, and the storyline is off to a hot start. Last week, fans saw Goku throw his universe under the bus after he petitioned the Omni-Kings to hold the dangerous martial arts events. With all of the universes at stake, episode 79 of Dragon Ball Super will usher in the anime's first match-up between Universe 7 and 9, and it will feature some very familiar faces.

Over in Weekly Shonen Jump, the publication gifted fans with a synopsis of the episode, and it will see fighters like Goku, Gohan, and Majin Buu fight new foes.

"A battle against Universe 9! Majin Buu is up in the first round!!
A match attended by the Omni-King is being held as a preliminary to the "Tournament of Power". That battle is finally kicking off! The first representative of Universe 7 fighting is Majin Buu! But Universe 9's fighter Basil is a pretty tough foe too...?!

A battle with their homeland at stake!
Universe 7 VS Universe 9
The Omni-Present Match finally starts!!
The contestants for Universe 7 are Goku, Gohan, and Buu. The losing universe will be wiped out?!

Their opponents are the fighters of Universe 9, "Trio the Dangers": Basil, Lavenda, and Bergamo.

Omni-King This Week: deeply interested in Buu's battle!

Last weekend, Dragon Ball Super's story arc kicked off the 'Universal Survival' saga. You can check out the brief synopsis for it below:

"At Goku's request, the Omni-Kings' "Tournament of Power" martial arts tournament between universes now begins! …But this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquished…?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn out…?!"

As for the saga's start date, the new arc premiered on February 5, 2017. The "Universal Survival" saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
