Dragon Ball Super: Universal Survival Saga Preview Released

Dragon Ball fans, it is time you got ready for the anime's brand-new arc. In a matter of days, Dragon Ball Super will be entering its long-awaited 'Universal Survival' saga, and Toei Animation just gave fans a morsel of the arc to taste. Not long ago, a preview for the new saga was released, and the explosive trailer features some surprising characters and new warriors to boot.

The trailer begins with a face that fans should immediately recognize. Cabba, a popular Saiyan from Universe 6, is seen going Super Saiyan. The trailer then continues to show another warriors who hails from Freeza's race before a supremely image is seen. Fans watch as a petite young woman goes into a rage and transforms into a female Saiyans who looks exactly like Broly.

Of course, Dragon Ball fans will be familiar with the latter name. Broly is a popular and controversial character within the franchise who has existed within the realm of movies. With his canonicity hotly debated, fans were stunned to see this so-called Female Broly appear in the 'Universal Survival' preview for good reason. Seriously, she can even be seen wearing earrings - and, no, they are not Potarra.

The rest of the preview features characters like Zen-Oh and his alternate timeline self. A shot of the High Priest can also be seen summoning kai energy before the whole host of destruction gods are seen. Alongside Beerus and Champa, the rest of the Universes' Gods of Destruction are introduced. Some appear to be based on Egyptian iconography, but others are decidedly not rooted in history. A pink elephant can be seen representing Universe 10 while a red-nosed clown can be found overseeing another.

The preview ends with a montage of fight scenes with Krillin, Vegeta, and Goku. The latter hero can be seen taking on a massive wolf warrior who wears a snazzy red cape, and he seems to be giving Goku a good fight.

In February, Dragon Ball Super's story arc is set to kick off with the 'Universal Survival' saga. You can check out the brief synopsis for it below:

"At Goku's request, the Omni-Kings' "Tournament of Power" martial arts tournament between universes now begins! …But this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquished…?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn out…?!"

Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
