New Pokemon Anime Movie Reveals First Trailer
03/02/2017 12:51 am EST
As suspected, the newest Pokemon movie is going to return fans to the anime's earliest days. The Japanese show Oha Suta revealed a first look at the new trailer to Pokemon: I Choose You earlier today.
While the trailer was in Japanese, fans should recognize many of the scenes from the first episode of the longrunning anime series. The trailer shows Ash and Pikachu's tempestuous first meeting, along with their tense encounter with a flock of Spearow that helped formed the inseparable bond the two share.
Not everything is exactly the same as the original episode. An encounter between Ash, Pikachu, and the Legendary Pokemon Ho-oh is slightly different, as Ash leaves the encounter with one of Ho-oh's rainbow feathers. Ash's hat is also updated, although fans might notice an easter egg to his original hat on his backpack.
No release date for the movie has been announced yet, but it will likely come out in Japan this summer as part of the anime's 20th anniversary celebration.
