One Piece Season 9 Announced By Funimation

If you are a fan of One Piece, then you may want to hide your wallet. The long-running anime has been around for more than a decade, and it has pushed out dozens of home releases. From movies to anime seasons, fans of the franchise have surely forked up some serious berries for the Captain Monkey D. Luffy and his crew. And, now, Funimation has confirmed it will be plundering more booty from anime lovers later this year.

Why is that? Well, it's because the studio has announced plans to bring One Piece's ninth season to the U.S. The company updated its website with a pre-order link for the One Piece release, and it notes that season nine will go on sale June 20, 2017.

The release is titled One Piece Season 9 Voyage 1. The much-awaited item will release the first English dubbed episodes of the 'Return to Sabaody Archipelago' and 'Fisherman Island' arc. It will also mark Funimation's first home release that houses One Piece episodes after the franchise's time-skip.

"The human-hating Hordy Jones and his army of 100,000 troops has Fishman Island's royal family by the gills. Luckily, the Straw Hats make it in time to show off a boatload of powerful new moves! But just when Luffy kicks into gear, an ancient ship nearly twice the size of the island heads straight for Shirahoshi. Only the cowardly mermaid can guide the vessel away before it crushes them all."
