Comic-Con 2020 Eisner Award Winners Announced

07/25/2020 09:51 am EDT

As is Comic-Con tradition, the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards announced this year's winners during a ceremony on Thursday night. Phil LaMarr, known for voicing Green Lantern John Stewart in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, Hermes Conrad in Futurama, and the leads characters of Samurai Jack and Static Shock, hosted the event. The awards take their name from innovative cartoonist Will Eisner, and many consider the Eisner Awards to be the Oscars of comics. There were 31 categories, plus the induction of Sergio Aragonés (Groo, MAD) into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame, and the 2020 Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award announcement.

This year's Eisner Awards were shrouded in controversy. There were voting irregularities during the online voting process that exposed voters' personal information. Voting was halted and later reinstated, but there have been complaints that there wasn't enough time provided to vote after the pause and that only those with compromised information received a notification about the second round of voting. Anyone who did not vote once they heard about the security breach never got the opportunity to cast a ballot.

But the awards moved forward, regardless of the issues. Here are the 2020 Eisner Awards winners:
