It looks like DC Entertainment is bringing another heavyweight talent to its roster. In an exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter, fans have just learned that Dolph Lundgren will be returning to the big screen thanks to Aquaman.

According to reports, Lundgren is playing a character created by Geoff Johns himself. The star has been tasked with playing King Nereus of the kingdom Xebel. The character is one who covets Mera for himself and pins his aggression on Arthur Curry in order to steal the heroine away. To make sure Mera becomes his own, King Nereus does the one thing all bad guys love to do: he tries to kill Aquaman.

If you are not familiar with Lundgren, then you are likely familiar with his past works. The actor debuted in the James Bond flick A View to a Kill, but his rise to stardom happened thanks to Rocky IV where he played Drago. Since then, Lundgren has starred in other projects like The Punisher, Masters of the Universe, and more.

An icon for over 70 years, Aquaman is the King of the Seven Seas. This reluctant ruler of Atlantis, caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt, is committed to protecting the entire globe.

The film is based on characters appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment and will star Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) as the sea-dwelling superhero, Amber Heard (Machete Kills) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Atlantean politician Vulko, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, and Temuera Morrison as Aquaman's father. It's being directed by James Wan (Furious Seven, The Conjuring), written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad), and produced by Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder.
