Are Blue Beetle and Booster Gold a Couple in the Injustice: Gods Among Us Comic?

Batman and Robin. Captain America and The Falcon. Superman and Jimmy Olsen. Power Man and Iron Fist. Some of the most iconic villain takedowns don't come at the hand of lone wolf heroes; rather, they come when those team together for the greater good.

Another one of the most iconic superhero team-ups is that of the time-traveling Booster Gold and his long-time friend Ted Kord, the Blue Beetle. Now, thanks in part to Twitter user @rustypolished and a bit of speculation, fans are wondering if Booster Gold and Blue Beetle might be a little more than just a crime-fighting duo — they could be a couple.

In the prequel comic to the Injustice 2 video game, Booster Gold is forced to reveal to Kord that the latter suffers a grim fate. Unable to interfere with the timeline as it would create a time paradox, Kord is eventually mortally wounded by Orca and Killer Croc, leaving Booster and Kord to share an intimate moment before Kord passes away.

You can see the touching moments in the gallery below.

The two have been a crime fighting duo for quite some time, with both of the characters entering the DC Comics universe and receiving their first ongoing series in the mid-1980s around the time Crisis on Infinite Earths was happening.

Outside of the comics, the two have both appeared in various DC animated projects while a Booster Gold movie is in the earliest stages of development.

While we haven't heard much recently about the Booster Gold movie, writer Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class) had begun work on a script late last year with Greg Berlanti of The CW's Arrowverse fame slated to produce.

The movie has yet to have a release date, and no director is currently attached to the project. It's been heavily speculated that Booster Gold will not be a part of Warner Brothers' DC Extended Universe.
