Arrow: What is Lord Mesa Bakery?

Mild spoilers for tonight's episode of Arrow below!

As this season of Arrow is winding down, even its usually gloomy protagonist, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), has found a reason to celebrate. And at Oliver's birthday party in tonight's episode, a prominent creator within the Arrow fandom was briefly celebrated as well.

The cake ordered by Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) for the birthday party was decorated with art by Lord Mesa, an artist who regularly publishes DCTV-related fanart on Twitter. When asked who made the cake, Felicity name-dropped Lord Mesa Bakery.

Lord Mesa gained popularity in Arrow's early seasons for drawing chibi fanart inspired by noteworthy scenes, many of which were regularly reshared by the show's cast and crew. In the years since, his work has grown to Arrow's sister shows: The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl.

While this Easter egg has little bearing on the show as a whole, it's a nice way to honor someone who has contributed a lot to the Arrow fandom.

Based on the characters from DC, ARROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Supergirl), Marc Guggenheim (Eli Stone, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters), Andrew Kreisberg (The Flash, Supergirl), Wendy Mericle (Desperate Housewives, Eli Stone) and Sarah Schechter (Supergirl, Blindspot).
