Arrow EP Teases More Helix in Season 6

With Arrow's season six premiere date officially unveiled today, many fans are wondering exactly what will be in store for The CW's series. While the explosive season finale left quite a bit up in the air, there are quite a few season five plotlines that don't surround the events on Lian Yu.

This includes the existence of Helix, the hacktivist group that Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) ran with in the back half of season five. After collaborating with Team Arrow's resident hacker, the group decided that she was a liability, leading to them relocating their offices and leaving Felicity with a rather painful parting gift - a biometric tracker that was ultimately rigged to explode in the Arrow Cave.

Considering the sour note that the storyline ended on, can fans expect to see more of Helix in the show's upcoming season? While speaking with TVLine, executive producer Wendy Mericle said that anything is possible.

"[It's] a dangling thread, and we don't like to leave those hanging around," Mericle explained. "It'd be a great, sort of built-in story for Felicity to revisit these people, who are not very happy with her, let's be honest. We left that open-ended on purpose, for sure."

That poses quite a few new questions, mainly surrounding what capacity Helix would return to the show in. There is a chance that the group could function in a much more prominent role - possibly as one of the season's Big Bads.

More Arrow news:

In Season Five, newly appointed Mayor Oliver Queen finds himself challenged as he fights on two fronts for the future of Star City. With his right hand, John Diggle, back in the military and his sister Thea adamant about hanging up her vigilante hood as Speedy, Team Green Arrow is down to just Oliver and Felicity – but they're no longer the only vigilantes in town. Green Arrow's public defeat of Damien Darhk at the end of Season Four has inspired a new crop of masked heroes to step up and defend the city, though their painful inexperience makes them obstacles rather than allies in the field. The arrival of a deadly new adversary will force Oliver to confront questions about his own legacy, both as mayor and as the Green Arrow.

Arrow stars Stephen Amell (Private Practice), David Ramsey (Blue Bloods, Dexter), Willa Holland (The O.C.), Emily Bett Rickards (Brooklyn), Echo Kellum (Sean Saves The World), with Josh Segarra (Sirens, Chicago P.D.) and Paul Blackthorne (The River). Based on the characters from DC, Arrow is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Supergirl, Blindspot), Marc Guggenheim (DC's Legends of Tomorrow), Andrew Kreisberg (The Flash, Supergirl), Wendy Mericle (Desperate Housewives) and Sarah Schechter (The Flash, Supergirl,Blindspot).
