Batman's Latest Justice League Costume Looks Like One From the Animated Series

When the latest Batman costume debuted on his Justice League character poster yesterday, fans immediately noticed something...familiar...about the dark suit/silver bat look.

...No, we're not talking about the "Arctic suit" from Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin. Rather, we're looking squarely at the Justice League cartoon's suit for the Batman of the Justice Lords.

The Justice Lords are a team of supervillains who first appeared in the 2003 two-part Justice League episode "A Better World." They're kind of a hybrid of the Crime Syndicate of America with WildStorm's The Authority, as they are from an alternate Earth where, after Lex Luthor became President and murdered The Flash, they killed him and effectively took over the world "for humanity's own good."

The characters each featured slightly different costume designs from their standard looks, with Superman's somewhat resembling the look he sported in the future of Batman Beyond, Wonder Woman's bringing to mind the earlier costumes of Wonder Girl/Donna Troy, and Martian Manhunter's full-body covering actually being somewhat more like what fans have seen from him in the post-Flashpoint DC stories.

The Justice Lords were brought into DC comics' canonical Multiverse with The Multiversity Guidebook #1 by Grant Morrison in 2015. Their world is situated on Earth-50 of DC's Multiverse.

Later, also in the comics, DC introduced a "Lord Batman Beyond" who squared off against Terry McGinnis in the possible future of that story.

Justice League is hitting theaters November 17, while the Wonder Woman solo film will premiere June 2.

After checking out the posters in our gallery, make sure you leave your vote for the Justice League in our Anticipation Rankings below.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.
