Gal Gadot Addresses 'Justice League' Director Transition

Warner Bros.' Justice League movie hit a major hurdle earlier this year, when director Zack Snyder dropped out of the project after months of production, leaving Avengers director Joss Whedon to take the helm.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Wonder Woman and Justice League star Gal Gadot addressed the growing rumors that Whedon is trying to perform life-saving surgery on the film, including lightening the tone and dialogue of the script, and even changing the ending.

According to Gadot, the rumors are much more drastic than the reality:

"Look. Joss, to my understanding, was Zack's choice to finish the movie. And the tone can't be completely different because the movie was already shot. Joss is just fine-tuning."

As usual, there will be a range of opinion on whether Gadot is providing earnest response (something the Israeli actress is known for), or giving the prudent PR answer. She did make sure to use the qualifier "to my understanding," which one could argue leaves room for later denials.

At this point, no one can say for sure what state the Justice League movie is in. The latest trailer that debuted at Comic-Con 2017 impressed a lot of viewers, and remains our only evidence of how things actually look. At the same time... the directorial shakeup and persisting rumors about the reshoots definitely make this an irregular production experience for such a big and important film.

Like every major film production, the final result will ultimately shape the story of how things went. If Justice League makes huge profits and solidifies the DCEU brand, few will care how winding the road to get there was.

Justice League will be in theaters on November 17, 2017.
