Here's When Scarecrow Fans Need To Tune Into 'Gotham' Season 4

The upcoming season of Gotham promises to deliver audiences the villainous Scarecrow in ways never before seen, but die-hard fans of the villain might not be as compelled by the show's other storylines. Entertainment Weekly recently revealed that the season's second episode is a can't-miss installment in Scarecrow's story.

Per the outlet, "If you're a Scarecrow fan, you're going to want to watch episode 2 of the season, which focuses heavily on the new villain and his effect on the city. 'People have to face their own worst fears and end up sort of embodying them and living through their own nightmares,' Ben McKenzie says. 'It's a little nightmarish. It has a fright movie feel to it. It's fun.'"

This confirms claims by executive producer John Stephens from San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year.

"We're really going to fashion, especially Episode 2, almost a horror movie episode where we really get to see Scarecrow," Stephens revealed. "I think he's purely terrifying. Imagine, rather than the other versions of Scarecrow out there — because there are a lot of different versions — what if you just really tell Scarecrow as a horror movie? Because he could be scary as hell."

Another prominent storyline this year will be how Jim Gordon handles Oswald Cobblepot's reign of terror.

"In the first half of the season this year, Jim Gordon is going to try to loosen Penguin's hold upon Gotham," Stephens recently revealed to DC All Access. "He does that by forming an alliance with Sofia Falcone, who Crystal Reed is playing, and the two of them work together to basically try to dethrone Penguin."

Last season's finale teased Bruce Wayne embracing his vigilantism to become Batman, a plot that will continue in Season 4.

"At the same time, Bruce Wayne is going to go out there and start operating as a vigilante wearing a mask," Stephens said. "And then moving forward after that, Jim Gordon will realize that this vigilante is operating out there in Gotham somewhere and he goes 'I'm going to hunt that guy down' and we have Jim Gordon and a masked Bruce Wayne going head to head."

We'll learn more when Gotham premieres Thursday, September 21st at 8 pm ET on FOX.
