Did Harley Quinn And Nightwing Just Have Sex In The New Batman Movie?

The latest animated Batman movie continues the new tradition of giving the Bat-Family some time between the sheets, with a scene strongly insinuating Harley Quinn and Nightwing do the dirty deed.

In the new movie Batman and Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and the Floronic Man are attempting to use their combined efforts to restore the Earth to its former vegetative glory. In order to stop them, Batman tasks his former sidekick with tracking Harley Quinn, one of Ivy's best friends.

Dick Grayson hears stories of a waitress at a superhero-themed restaurant who beats the crap out of grabby customers. It almost seems too good to be true, given that the waitress in question actually dresses like Harley Quinn.

Nightwing tails her and the two get into a fight, in which Harley gains the upper hand and renders the former Boy Wonder unconscious with the help of some leftover Joker toxin.

When Nightwing comes to, he's strapped to Harley's bed while she's debating how to deal with him after discovering her attempts to "go straight." Nightwing attempts persuading her to help track down Poison Ivy.

But the scene ends with Harley turning out the lights and crawling into bed on top of Nightwing, strongly hinting at what comes next.

When Batman finally tracks his former partner to Harley's apartment, he walks in on the two in the midst of a tickle fight. However when he observes the surroundings, taking in the ripped tape and clothes on the ground, it's not hard to see the disappointment on his face.

Nightwing accuses his mentor of being a hypocrite, while Harley brushes off Nightwing's assistance due to him falling in love.

It's a slightly more… mature… take on the continuity established in Batman: The Animated Series, and a very strange direction for Bruce Timm to take in his return to writing the DC movies.

But it's not completely out of the ordinary. Remember, Batman and Batgirl had an intimate (and poorly received) rooftop scene in The Killing Joke. It remains to be seen if fans will accept this moment between Harley Quinn and Nightwing.

Batman and Harley Quinn is now available on Digital HD, while the movie hits Blu-ray and DVD August 29.

Spawned from an original story by animation icon Bruce Timm, Batman and Harley Quinn brings legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy back to his most famous role. Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) embark on an ecological quest to save the planet—and, unfortunately, eliminate most of humankind along the way. To save humanity, Batman and Nightwing are forced to enlist Harley Quinn to catch Poison Ivy, Harley's BFF and frequent partner-in-crime. But Batman's patience is put to the test by the unpredictable and untrustworthy Harley during the twists and turns the reluctant companions face during their bumpy road trip. The result is a thrill ride of action, adventure and comedy no Batman fan has seen before.
