Is The Flash's Keiynan Lonsdale Getting a New Mask?

Recently, The Flash star Grant Gustin suggested that maybe it was time for Barry to get a new costume. Could it be that he's a little jealous that Kid Flash already has a wardrobe change coming up?

Earlier today, The Flash's Keiynan Lonsdale -- Wally West on the hit show -- posted a series of photos of himself on Twitter, in which he was being fitted for a head-and-shoulders bust.

As we've seen in the past, this is commonly done on superhero shows when the actor is being sized up for a mask.

The fact that Wally already has a mask -- and that he finally got a costume on Earth-1 in the midseason finale -- is not lost on anybody, but of course the series is filming several episodes ahead of where audiences actually are right now. Could it be that Wally is ready to get a new mask -- either permanently, or perhaps in a what-if kind of flash-forward future?

Lonsdale didn't speak to that possibility, but Wally has had several different costumes over the years in the comics, and it's possible that one or multiple of those would eventually make their way to the small screen.

Among the suits he's worn are a metallic-looking version of Barry's costume, made of Speed Force and worn while Wally was the one-and-only Flash after Barry's apparent death in the Crisis on Infinite Earths), a silver version of his current yellow costume, and two different red-and-silver costumes (one with a cap over his hair on the helmet and one without), worn in the pre- and post-Flashpoint stories where Wally is one of multiple Flashes with Barry still alive.

Lonsdale didn't answer any questions on Twitter about why he might be getting a new cast made. It's entirely possible they're just making him a new costume that looks identical to the old one, or putting a cast in storage for the next time they need something. Still, with Gustin's recent comments, it's hard not to speculate...!

Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT; The Flash on Tuesdays at the same time, followed by DC's Legends of Tomorrow at 9 p.m.; Arrow on Wednesdays at 8. New episodes return the last week in January.
