R.M Guéra and Jason Aaron's 60-issue crime epic Scalped is another step closer to hitting TV screens, as the WGN America adaptation recently nabbed some directors for the pilot.

Writing and directing team Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were announced to be helming the project by Deadline, which will feature a majority of Native Americans in the cast.

Aaron and Guéra's Vertigo-published comic focused on Dashiell Bad Horse, an undercover FBI agent who returns home to a fictional Reservation in South Dakota to infiltrate his uncle's criminal empire.

The series was lauded for its unique approach and depiction of crime on "the Rez," and launched Aaron's career as a comics writer, having long-running stints with characters such as Wolverine, the X-Men, and now Thor. He is the writer of both the Mighty Thor and the Unworthy Thor for Marvel Comics, as well as the creator-owned series Southern Bastards with Jason Latour.

WGN America picked up Scalped for a pilot order last year, but not much has been announced on the project since. Fallah and El Arbi's entry to the adaptation signals progress is being made.

The script was written by Doug Jung, who will executive produce the project alongside Geoff Johns, the Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics.

Fallah and El Arbi also co-directed the pilot for John Singleton's FX drama Snowfall, recently picked up for a season order, and are also tapped to direct the fourth film in the Eddie Murphy-starring Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
