Jason Momoa Explains Why He's Grateful For Justice League, Aquaman

Jason Momoa has quickly risen in popularity thanks to roles on shows like Game of Thrones. However, it is his impending work with the DC Extended Universe that has fans in a tizzy. The Hawaiian actor will be the man bringing Arthur Curry to life in Justice League, and Momoa will reprise the role in a standalone superhero flick. Now, the actor is opening up about the coveted role and telling fans just why he is grateful for being cast.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Momoa got candid about his involvement and said his career has been more focused on his family than choice. "I haven't been an actor who's been able to pick and choose roles, and being a family man, it's been about putting food on the table," he explained.

So, when Momoa got the chance to play Aquaman for one of the industry's most popular film franchises, the actor was gobsmacked.

"This has been the best moment of my career because the superhero roles are letting me get the other roles I want," he admitted.

During the interview, Momoa revealed that he knew he had the role back in 2012 or 2013. The actor said he did his best to keep his mouth shut about the news, but Momoa said it was hard not to celebrate the casting with all he had.

"I was trying to get any role I could, and not having much luck. So, knowing what your future is going to be in the next five or six years and having to keep your mouth shut is brutal," he explained.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.
