Justice League: One Year Until Release Day

November 17. The Justice League movie is officially one year away. For the first time, DC Comics' most iconic heroes will come together on the big screen.

It has been a long journey to Justice League.

First, the DC Films universe launched on June 14, 2013, introducing Henry Cavill's Superman to the cinematic universe. Soon after, Warner Brothers would announce Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which would see Batman and Superman collide on the silver screen, marking their first joint live action adventure on March 25, 2016.

Prior to Dawn of Justice's release, the studio revealed it had much grander plans for their characters. On October 15, 2014, the studio revealed the plans for not one, but two Justice League movies. The first arrives on November 17, 2017 and the second is set for release on June 14, 2019.

The road to Justice League has been a bumpy one, however. While many fans loved Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad, there is a vocal bunch of critics and viewers who did not. Whether or not the film's critical receptions have had any effect on the Justice League movies is technically unknown but after visiting the set of Justice League, it is clear the studio is taking a different approach to their iconic characters.

The first three movies from DC Films were rooted in dark and gritty styles which prompted constant remarks from moviegoers complaining they were not "fun." After visiting the set of Justice League, it's clear that the new ensemble film will be just that -- though it will maintain the roots of a dark and gritty sets, mindblowing special effects courtesy of Zack Snyder's direction paired with remarkable cinematography and effects, and characters grounded in the most realistic world a super hero film can provide.

The heart of the film appears to be Ezra Miller. On the set, Miller provided a youthful enthusiasm both on and off camera. He offers comic relief during his scenes but is paired with a new take on the Flash suit which is clearly no joke and a brilliant computerized take on the Speed Force.

In addition to Miller, the newcomers to the DC Films franchise include Jason Momoa's portrayal of Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and J.K. Simmons' role as Commissioner Gordon.

Speculation of a new trailer being released today caught fire on the Internet over the past couple of days the release of Kong: Skull Island's new trailer from Warner Brothers just last night would point to no new trailer for Justice League today. The studio would be wise to keep one trailer from stepping on the attention of another. Still, the first trailer was released at San Diego Comic Con over the summer and offered looks at each of the new cast members.

The set offered no information regarding Superman's return, though Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven confirmed he will be around for the ensemble flick, citing the fact that you don't have a Justice League without the Kryptonian. When he does arrive in the film, he'll be rocking the black suit fans have been clamoring for since the end of Batman v. Superman.

Word from sources involved with production is that we will get new content soon, with rumors pointing to heavy reveals of Aquaman in the next trailer. Momoa's role in the film has been very much kept a secret aside from a few details regarding multiple costumes.

Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017.
