Justice League Vs Suicide Squad #6 Review - A Worthy Finale

Justice League vs Suicide Squad had the potential to be a by the numbers crossover with little to nothing to show for it at the end. Instead, fans got one of the best versus books in recent memory, and both groups come out with something to show for their work.
Spoilers incoming for Justice Leauge vs Suicide Squad #6, so be warned.
With Eclipso successfully taking over the League and thousands of civilians, it comes down to what's left of the Suicide Squad and Batman to put the genie back in the bottle. What follows is a climactic affair that contains plenty of action but still rewards fans with some substantial character moments. Take for instance the sequence between Eclipso and Deadshot, where Eclipso unveils Lawton's innermost thoughts regarding his daughter, and how she's the only thing tethering him to humanity. This could have been a simple sympathy play, but Joshua Williamson instead goes a different route, one that fits the tone of this book perfectly.
The same could be said for Killer Frost, who's arc has been one of the best parts of Justice League vs. Suicide Squad. As opposed to other villain turned hero transitions, this one didn't feel ham-fisted. It was a natural evolution of where she was at the beginning of this story, and her arc will have direct ramifications on the upcoming Justice League of America book. Williamson's also responsible for the most enjoyable version of Lobo in some time, and it's a welcome return to form for the character.
On the art front, Howard Porter's stylized pencils are a perfect fit for this varied cast of characters, and his rendering of Eclipso is hands down fantastic. His lanky features combined with his menacing and crazed expressions convey just how threatening he is, and most of that is thanks to Porter and colorist Alex Sinclair.
The only disappointing part of the issue was the final reveal, which will continue to involve Max Lord. That last part is intriguing on its own, but the concept felt a bit redundant.
Still, it's an action-packed finale to an even that surpassed most expectations, and plants some promising seeds for future series. At the end of the day, you can't ask for much more.
