Exclusive: Legends of Tomorrow Deleted Scene From "Fellowship of the Spear"

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season Two comes to DVD and Blu-ray today, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive look at one of the disc's deleted scenes.

In this scene, from "The Fellowship of the Spear," Ray Palmer and Martin Stein come up with a new strategy to fend off German soldiers during the Legends' trip to World War I.

Given the idea here that The Atom was going to be, essentially, a "gremlin" in the eyes of the Germans (in order to hide the existence of superhumans from early 20th Century history), one has to wonder whether this scene was meant as a nod to '80s cinema.

Besides the boatloads of Back to the Future nods in Legends of Tomorrow, a Season Two episode saw the team come face to face with George Lucas and inadvertently change the history of Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Gremlins, another '80s favorite, wouldn't be the last such movie to get a nod if in fact it was on purpose here: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial provided the inspiration for an episode of Legends that is currently filming, titled "Phone Home."

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season Two is available digitally or on DVD and Blu-ray now. Season Three will premiere on October 10th at 9 p.m., following the season premiere of The Flash on The CW.

After the defeat of Eobard Thawne and his equally nefarious Legion of Doom, the Legends face a new threat created by their actions at the end of last season. In revisiting a moment in time that they had already participated in, they have essentially fractured the timeline and created anachronisms – a scattering of people, animals, and objects all across time! Our team must find a way to return all the anachronisms to their originaltimelines before the time stream falls apart. But before our Legends can jump back into action, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) and his newly established Time Bureau call their methods into question. With the Time Bureau effectively the new sheriffs in town, the Legends disband – until Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) discovers one of them in the middle of his well-deserved vacation in Aruba. Seeing this as an opportunity to continue their time travelling heroics, Sara (Caity Lotz) wastes no time in getting the Legends back together.

We reunite with billionaire inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), the unconventional historian-turned-superhero Nick Heywood (Nick Zano), and Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Jefferson "Jax" Jackson (Franz Drameh), who together form the metahuman Firestorm. Once reunited, the Legends will challenge the Time Bureau's authority over the timeline and insist that however messy their methods may be, some problems are beyond the Bureau's capabilities. Some problems can only be fixed by Legends.
