Legends of Tomorrow's Season 2 Finale Closes the Door on A Beloved Arrow Character

Last night on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, a big part of Sara Lance's journey was finally coming to terms with the fact that she'll never see her sister Laurel again -- and in all likelihood, that means the audience won't, either.

Since her death in season 4 of Arrow, Laurel has been more of a presence on Legends of Tomorrow -- and, to some extent, on Arrow, too -- than she was while alive. Her loss -- and the fact that those who loved here weren't around to save her -- hung over both shows this season, with Oliver being forced to come to grips with it on the midseason premiere of Arrow after the Earth-2 version of Laurel showed up to cause trouble.

Meanwhile, much of Sara's emotional journey this season has dealt with the loss of her sister -- and the fact that Laurel was killed while Sara had elected to run off into the timestream with the Legends, leaving Star City in the hands of Oliver, Laurel, and the rest of Team Arrow.

The "vision" of Laurel in "Aruba" the second-season finale to DC's Legends of Tomorrow, was particularly notable in that it felt very...final.

Obviously after Sara's death, Laurel had taken her to the Lazarus Pit and resurrected her sister via metaphysical means. Nobody really expected that to happen with Laurel, but it was in the conversation. There were various ways she could have been brought back, and all of them were discussed by Arrow fans.

Most recently, though, it was announced that actress Katie Cassidy would return to Arrow as a season regular...but as Black Siren, that mischief-making Earth-2 version.

In the end, it seems as though it was Sara, not Oliver, who got to have the final word on Laurel, which is a nice touch on the part of the producers (most of whom also work on Arrow).
