Wonder Woman is nothing short of a success. Soaring past $750 million at the worldwide box office, the film is the highest grossing movie that's a part of the DC Extended Universe and its director — Patty Jenkins — is giving thanks to one of the people responsible for the growth of the character.

Taking to Twitter, Jenkins thanked Lynda Carter, the actress who portrayed Diana Prince in her first ever live action role in the cult classic Wonder Woman television series of the 1970s.

"Congrats to YOU too. This is all built on the magical legacy you are at the core of," Jenkins said as she responded to a congratulatory tweet from Carter. "Great thanks you Lynda, our sister on the journey."

While wait for an official announcement regarding Wonder Woman 2 — it's a matter of when, not if — you can see Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) team up alongside Batman (Ben Affleck), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) in Justice League.

MORE WONDER WOMAN:

Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.

Wonder Woman was directed by Patty Jenkins from a screenplay by AllanHeinberg, based on a story by Heinberg, Zack Snyder, and Jason Fuchs. Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, and Elena Anaya.
