Sam Humphries, Bernard Chang To Take Over Nightwing

Writer Sam Humphries and artist Bernard Chang will take over Nightwing in December, with longtime Grayson and Nightwing writer Tim Seeley leaving the book.

Humphries had recently left Green Lanterns, explaining to fans that an opportunity had come up, and that he could not see no.

"It was a good damn run," Seeley tweeted. "2x Intensity. Got to work with one of my favorite characters, with some great collaborators to boot. Not gone lie...Nightwing is HARD. Harder than Grayson for sure. But I said I'd make some cool new villains and God damnit I did."

As DC revealed last month, Seeley will head to Green Lanterns, in turn replacing Humphries

The writer teased his final arc will be "Raptor's Revenge," and will pit Raptor against both Nightwing and Blockbuster, effectively acting as a culmination for everything he has written so far on the title.

"The next big arc after the Spyral story is going to be bringing Blockbuster and Raptor together — basically bringing Raptor to Bludhaven," Seeley told ComicBook.com during a recent interview. "If Blockbuster's motivation is that he thinks he's better to determine the future of Bludhaven than Dick is, then what about this guy who comes in there and has a very specific reason to hate Bludhaven because of Dick? Blockbuster didn't even want [Nightwing] around anyway and now Raptor's here trashing the place because of him? Lots of tension; it's going to be great."

Fans realized what was happening earlier today, when Humphries posted a photo of himself wearing a Nightwing beanie to Instagram.

Subtitled "The Untouchable," Humphries and Chang will bring back a case from Dick's past to haunt him in his new city.

"The new villain is a devious new creation by me and Bernard — a murderous cold case from Nightwing's past," Humphries told CBR. "But to fully unravel the scope of this guy, and to dig deep into Nightwing as a character, we're going to experience some of his early days as Robin, and also his time as Hudson University student, Dick Grayson. It's all tied together — his history is part of what makes him so exciting."
