Supergirl's Chris Wood Says Mon-El Hates Mr. Mxyzptlk

In the final moments of last night's episode of Supergirl, a Fifth-Dimensional imp called Mr. Mxyzptlk arrived on the scene and basically screwed things up for Mon-El and Kara, who were close to having a romantic moment.

...And so close to Valentine's Day!

"Mon-El hates this guy," series star Chris Wood, who plays Mon-El, told TVLine. "He hates that he's ruined this moment where they're finally going to connect, and he hates even more that this guy wants Kara to marry him and is trying to manipulate the situation into making her almost feel like he has no choice."

So that punch audiences saw in the trailer has a lot riding on it, and a lot of emotion behind it, apparently.

"When he ends up fighting Mr. Mxyzptlk, he definitely has all of [those feelings for Kara] fueling his blows," Wood says. "Every punch is filled with 'Don't touch her! She's mine!'"

...Of course, we're guessing that an overtly feminist show like Supergirl wouldn't cotton much to "she's mine." But you get what Wood is saying, anyway.

Check out the official synopsis and photos from the episode here.

When Mr. Mxyzptlk (guest star Peter Gadiot), a magical imp, shows up on Earth and declares his love for Kara (Melissa Benoist), she tries to let him down easy, thinking him harmless. However, he decides it's a challenge and starts to wreak havoc on National City. Mon-El (Chris Wood) has seen beings like Mr. Mxyzptlk on Daxam and knows how dangerous they can be. He and Kara argue over how to get rid of Mr. Mxyzptlk, further straining their relationship.

Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie (Floriana Lima) celebrate their first Valentine's Day together.

Stefan Pleszczynski directed the episode written by Jessica Queller & Sterling Gates.
