Billy Crudup Is Still Attached To The Flash

The last 36 hours have been a confusing one for fans of The Flash. For those DC Comics lovers, they found themselves inundated with updates about The Flash's director search. Names like Robert Zemeckis, Matthew Vaughn, and Sam Raimi were all said to be attached to the feature. However, new reports are suggesting the latter director has bowed out of talks already. Other reports then alleged Billy Crudup had chosen to leave The Flash, leaving the role of Barry Allen's dad without someone to oversee it.

But, before fans panic, they should take a breath. Thanks to a new update by the Hollywood Reporter, fans have learned Crudup is still down to play the speedster's father.

According to the site, sources close to the film as well as Crudup's camp have said the star is still on-board. This feedback flies against today's previous reports about the actor's leave. An article by Entertainment Weekly reported that Crudup had left the film. Many had feared the report was right, leaving The Flash with just Ezra Miller and Kiersey Clemons to play Barry Allen and Iris West. However, that doesn't appear to be the case.

As for the film's directors, it does look like Raimi has removed himself as a contender to oversee The Flash. Warner Bros. may move forward with Zemeckis or Vaughn if either of the directors' schedules pan out. To date, The Flash has had several issues keeping crew members attached to the project. First, Seth Grahame-Green exited the film as director before Rick Famuyiwa was brought on-board. However, late last year, the indie director quietly left the feature over reported creative differences.
