Grant Gustin Shares Support For Ezra Miller's Flash

Comic book fans have learned cinematic universes can be a bit confusing. Marvel's franchise has dozens of interconnecting bits, and its inability to crossover film and television projects has carried over to the DC Extended Universe. Later this year, Justice League will hit theaters with the Flash in tow, but Grant Gustin won't suit up for the big screen. However, the actor did just reiterate his support for Ezra Miller's take on Barry Allen.

Over on Instagram, Gustin commented on a fan-made picture that shows the actor with Miller at San Diego Comic Con. The CW star wrote, "Ezra is absolutely the more established actor in film, with the acting chops to back it up. I'm excited to see what he does with Barry Allen/The Flash."
This is not the first time Gustin has commented on Miller's casting. Last year, the actor complimented the Justice League star after Miller said he thinks it's awesome that there are now two Flashes.
"Ezra is hilarious and kind," Gustin tweeted. "Pumped for him. He's clearly very excited."
Still, there are plenty of fans who are upset the DCEU re-casted the Flash rather than use Gustin. It seems like the franchise wants to follow after the MCU and keep its small screen pursuits separate from its theatrical endeavors. Marvel's universe has some give-and-take between the two mediums, but the DCEU has taken a bold stance in differentiating its television projects from its movies.
In the past, Zack Snyder has explained why he felt the need to cast a new actor for the Flash. The director told The NY Daily News Gustin was never even considered to join the DCEU because Snyder didn't "think it was a good fit."
"I'm very strict with the universe and I just don't see a version where...that not our world," he explained.
For Gustin, it's nice to see the actor reaching out to Miller despite any tension regarding their shared roles. The DCEU may prove to be a multiverse like its comic book counterpart, so fans may one day get to see the two Flashes team up somehow. Gustin has been doing the whole superhero schtick longer than Miller; Maybe the TV star can give the actor some vigilante tips?
