Wonder Woman Director On Diana Versus Other Superheroes

The movie based on one of DC Comics most popular superheroes is less than a week away from premiering in theaters.
Though Wonder Woman made her debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gal Gadot's portrayal took the back seat to the title characters who were fighting due to manipulation and misunderstanding.
It was not a unique approach to the superhero dynamic—a plot that has been depicted countless times on the comic book page and on screen. And though the movie made a lot of money for Warner Bros., it left a lot to be desired for many fans and critics. Yet it wasn't unlike most Marvel movies. But Wonder Woman aims to be different, according to director Patty Jenkins.
"The world needs all different kinds of superheroes, especially one like Wonder Woman. She teaches love and the belief in a better mankind," Jenkins said to Vanity Fair. "That's the interesting thing. Her versus the other superheroes, she chose to fight for peace. She chose to spend her life to help others, and that's empowering. She's the one who took control of her life."

Jenkins previously directed Monster starring Charlize Theron in a role that earned the actor an Academy Award. Wonder Woman marks Jenkins' first foray into big budget superhero films after the director dropped out of the production for Thor: The Dark World.
She's previously gone on the record about how she's lobbied to make Wonder Woman for years, and it seems like Jenkins has the vision necessary to make the character's first feature film a success.
"She comes into this world and realizes that it's hard and complicated and difficult, but worth it because she knows it's her mission," Jenkins said. "We are seeing this for the first time on the big screen in that way."
