‘Assassin’s Creed Origins’ Delivers Historical Figures And Intense Action In A New Trailer

Assassin's Creed Origins will be taking its trademark sneaking and stabbing to Ancient Egypt, but what historical figures can we expect to interact with there? Hanging out with famous people from the past has been a staple of past entries in the series, but Ubisoft hasn't revealed much about that aspect of the game.

Well, at Ubisoft dropped a new Assassin's Creed Origins cinematic trailer during Microsoft's Xbox @ Gamescom livestream, which gave us a peak at historical figures like Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Ptolemy. We also get a nice slice of badass action. You can check it all out, above.

Set to the haunting "You Want it Darker" by Leonard Cohen, the trailer opens on various scenes from Ancient Egypt – serfs work the fields, the powerful are mummified, and strange masked figures keep popping up at key points. What's their game? We see one standing behind Cleopatra, so it definitely seems like they're pulling some sort of strings. Are these the original Templars, or some other group? Whatever the answer, these masked men won't get away with their schemes – Origins' protagonist Bayek kills one with an arrow to the heart, then engages in a brutal battle with a group of Roman centurions.

Assassin's Creed Origins certainly looks impressive, but until now we haven't got much sense of the game's characters or plot, so it's nice to see Ubisoft opening up about that aspect. It looks like the origins of the Assassins/Templars feud is going to be suitably epic!

Assassin's Creed Origins sneaks on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 27. Currently, Amazon Prime members can save 20% on the pre-order.
