Borderlands 3 Listed For Preorder By Retailer

With all of the news circulating after Microsoft's big E3 conference that showcased a ton of upcoming games and plenty of details about the new Xbox One X, it's easy to believe that some news could have slipped under the radar, especially when that news might be a leak. One game that was not shown during the conference was Borderlands 3, but according to a listing from a retailer, we might be seeing the next game in the Borderlands series during E3 after all.

The news of Borderlands 3's supposedly impending release comes from the European retailer Base.com. A quick search on the site for the title will pull up a collection of Borderlands games such as a Borderlands bundle and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, but included among those is also a listing for Borderlands 3.

As much as we'd love to see more information about the game listed in the retailer's description of the product, those sections are empty, at least for now. It doesn't even have a proper game box at this time, either; only a logo, shown above, is splashed across the listing with the option to preorder the game on either the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One, but that's certainly enough to give hope that more info will be coming about the game soon.

Included with the listing is also a release date, though that could definitely be subject to change since the rest of the information about the game hasn't yet been filled out. A current release date of Dec. 31 for this year is what's listed, but that could definitely be just a placeholder.

News that the game might be in serious stages of development came in recent months when some images were shown during a presentation from Gearbox, images that featured the very distinct style of graphics that Borderlands games carry. It was speculated in that report that the release of Borderlands 3 may have been much later, but it now looks as though we might get to see the game sooner.

With the game being listed online for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and with Microsoft's time in the spotlight already concluded, it seems more likely that the game will be unveiled during Sony's E3 conference tomorrow at 6 p.m. PT if we are to see anything about it at all.
