The historic story that Call of Duty: WWII will follow is sure to include painstakingly accurate details concerning the World War II timeline and the massive battles that took place, and it appears that the Zombies mode coming with the game will also have a historical influence to it.

News of the historical inspiration in the Zombies mode comes from the newest edition of EDGE Magazine where Sledgehammer Games spoke about the new Call of Duty game as well as the Zombies mode. During a conversation with Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey from Sledgehammer Games, the two talked about traveling to Europe to help them craft their game with accuracy and attention to detail.

From the interview, it has been revealed that the Zombies mode will have a "back story that's based on real events." There's little else to go off of as to what locations or specific events will prove to influence the Zombies mode as well as which playable characters will be incorporated into the mix.

If historical accuracy isn't the main appeal for you when it comes to the mode — after all, it is a game mode centered entirely around Zombies — the two Sledgehammer Games representatives also revealed another interesting fact about the game mode. Condrey gave some insight into what kind of gameplay players can expect from this new iteration of Zombies by saying that it would be "unique to our Dead Space signature."

Before their time at Sledgehammer Games, both Condrey and Schofield worked at Visceral Games, the developer that's responsible for the Dead Space series and other titles such as Dante's Inferno. The first game in the series was released in 2008, and those who played the game will remember just how disturbing and often frightening it was. How they will incorporate such a feeling into Call of Duty: WWII's Zombies remains to be seen, but hopefully, it'll provide an equally intense experience.

News of other historical influences has already been released by Sledgehammer Games regarding certain battles that will take place in the upcoming game. The Battle of the Bulge, as well as Operation Cobra, have both already been confirmed to have a spot in the game.

Call of Duty: World War II is set to be released on Nov. 3 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
