Conan Exiles Coming To Xbox Game Preview With New Expansion

Funcom announced today that the game developer will be releasing Conan Exiles for the Xbox One Game Preview on Aug. 16, and with it will come a new, free expansion that's being released for the Xbox One and for the PC.

Conan Exiles is an open-world survival game that's based on the world of Conan the Barbarian. Players take on the role of an exile in the game as they look to gather resources and fend off enemies to survive in the wasteland environment. Since the game came out in January of this year, it's already had quite a successful run on the PC, selling over 500,000 copies within the first month with the game being only in its alpha stages.

When the release date of Aug. 16 comes, players on the Xbox One can expect to receive everything that is currently on the PC version as well as a free expansion that's being released at the same time. The expansion, shown in the trailer above, is supposed to expand the already sizable world of Conan Exiles by roughly 50 percent, according to developers. It adds an entirely new area of the world for players to explore, a snowy landscape that is home to wolves and mammoths and other creatures. If you've already got a copy of Conan Exiles, you'll get the expansion at no cost, and if you buy the game later on, you'll still be able to have the expansion for free.

Beyond the Xbox One Game Preview release, the dev team also said that they're planning on adding an additional update for the Xbox One X in the future to round out the game on the new console version. The update is expected to take advantage of the console's power to bring the game up to 4K resolution.

If you're hoping to pick up the game on the PlayStation 4 anytime soon, however, it looks like you'll have a bit longer to wait than Xbox One or PC players. The PlayStation 4 version is not expected to be released until sometime early in 2018 around the time that the game is fully released on all systems.
