Far Cry 5 May Be Rustling Up Exclusive Content For PlayStation 4 Players

Could PlayStation 4 owners be getting even more exclusive goodies? Jealous Xbox One owners have gotten used to PS4 players getting first dibs on new content, with series like Call of Duty, Destiny, and Red Dead Redemption having timed-exclusivity deals with Sony, and it seems Far Cry 5 may be following suit.

Earlier this week Ubisoft rolled out four live-action Far Cry 5 teaser trailers, inviting players to visit the fictional (and foreboding) Hope County, Montana. Oddly, only one of those teasers was available through Ubisoft's US YouTube account – if you wanted to watch all four you had to go to Ubisoft or PlayStation's European YouTube accounts.

If you watched the teasers via either of those accounts, they came with explicit PlayStation branding, and PS4 and PS4 Pro are the only platforms listed at the end. Meanwhile, the one teaser viewable on Ubisoft's US YouTube account doesn't list any platforms at all. Don't get too worried Xbox owners – the official Far Cry 5 website does list PC, Xbox One, and PS4 as the available platforms, but Ubisoft sure seems to be playing down any platform that isn't the PS4. Meanwhile, Microsoft's YouTube channels haven't posted anything related to Far Cry 5.

Where are the other platforms?

It certainly seems like some sort of deal between Ubisoft and Sony has been struck for Far Cry 5. Will that include exclusive or timed-exclusive content? Given the PlayStation branding only appeared on European videos, the deal may only cover that region, but publishers rarely split things up geographically like that. Far Cry 4 had PS4-exclusive content at launch, so it would make sense if Ubisoft sided with Sony again.

Hopefully we'll find out what the situation is when Far Cry 5 drops its full launch trailer on May 26 at 6am PT/9am PT. WWG will also have first-look impressions for you, so prepare yourself for plenty of info, Far Cry fans!
