Friday The 13th: The Game's Savini Jason Content Won't Be Sold Again

Friday the 13th: The Game has been out for just a couple of days now, and already players are aching to get their hands on that sweet, fiery version of Jason Voorhees that's called Savini Jason. The Savini Jason variation, designed by and named after make-up effects artist Tom Savini, comes with a menacing appearance and some impressive skills, but it looks like the hellish Jason won't ever be resold as future DLC, according to publisher Gun Media.
"We made that clear on Day 1 of the Backerkit that these two DLC were for backers; both Kickstarter and Backerkit," the Steam post from the developers read, referencing the Savini Jason and a clothing pack. "So here we are and here is where we are always going to stand; that skin and those clothing items are not for sale. They are not for secondary sale. They are for those that backed us and have been with us from the beginning. They are the people that took a chance on a campaign that has produced a game that is overall fun."
They went on in the post to say that those who didn't take the opportunity when they could "missed out," and that the content would most definitely not be sold again. Another discussion posted later on advised players not to attempt to purchase the content from third party sites such as eBay, saying that there was no way they could help players if they got scammed. This particular post said that they'd revoke the content keys from sellers if they identified who was doing the selling, but it didn't mention anything about banning players who bought the content as they 've discussed in the past.
One notable part of the post is that it keeps referencing the Jason content as a "skin," a word that typically applies to purely cosmetic changes. This Jason doesn't really fit that category though, as it has its own unique advantages and disadvantages in the game like the rest of the playable Jason characters. If the skills it comes with were no good, it probably wouldn't be too big of a deal, but it comes with some pretty attractive perks. This Jason has a reduced cooldown on Shift, a pretty overpowered fast-moving ability, does increased weapon damage, and can break down doors faster. The tradeoff is that he can't swim or run as fast, and he's got a bit of a weaker grip when it comes to grabbing the counselors, but those are hardly a bad trade compared to the advantages.
With the advantages this Jason has, some players have pointed out that it's not fair to have an entire character locked away forever behind a past deal. Others point out that since everyone has a 1/8 chance of playing as Jason, it's near impossible to prepare for which Jason you might be up against, so it shouldn't matter as far as gameplay balance goes. Both have solid points on the argument, but it looks like Gun Media is holding firm in their resolution to not resell the content.
More DLC content is said to be released for Friday the 13th: The Game in the future, but for now, the game is still working through some gameplay and server issues as each version is being patched. The game is currently available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
