Injustice 2: Darkseid Playable Even if You Don't Pre-Order

05/15/2017 09:39 am EDT

In addition to the 28 core fighters available when Injustice 2 launches later tonight, fans who pre-ordered the game will also have access to Darkseid. As the hours wind down, those who were unable (or unwilling) to place a pre-order for the game are wondering if Darkseid will be forever lost, banished to the NetherRealm.

As it turns out, no he won't. If you didn't pre-order Injustice 2, you'll still be able to purchase Darkseid as a DLC character should you choose to do so.

Below you can see that a Reddit user confirmed as much, posting the following screen-shot showing Darkseid on the character select screen. Although he's not eligible for selection, he'll still show up on your roster and you can see at the top left where it says, "Press X to Purchase Darkseid:"

We've confirmed this with our review copy of Injustice 2 as well, so you can rest easy. For those of you who plan on purchasing Injustice 2 this weekend or any time after launch, there's only one question that remains. Will Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition come with Darkseid? Our guess here would be no.

The Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition is a $100 "complete package" which comes with the base game, all DLC content, and a few extras. In addition to Power Girl, John Stewart, Reverse Flash, Jay Garrick, Vixen, and Mr. Freeze as premier skins (see those all here), the Ultimate Edition will also grant you instant access to Starfire, Red Hood, and Sub-Zero when the release. All six remaining DLC characters will also be yours. Darkseid, however, is specially earmarked as a pre-order bonus, and will most likely need to be purchased separately.

If you want to make things easier for yourself, don't forget that there's still time to pre-order. If you're interested in picking this game up digitally, then pretty much anywhere you order today before the game officially unlocks at midnight should grant you access to Darkseid. Otherwise, you'll have to cough up a little cash. At the time of writing, the extra PSN store listings for Injustice 2 are unavailable, so I can't tell you how much Darkseid will cost a la carte.

We'll have our full Injustice 2 review posted later tonight, so stay tuned!
