Injustice 2 Could Possibly Feature Fighters From The Watchmen Universe

Injustice 2 developer NetherRealm Studios has dug deep to find their lineup of DC Comics fighters. Sure, the game's roster features your heavy hitters like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, it also contains characters only hardcore DC Comics fans could name, like Doctor Fate and Gorilla Grodd. That said, there are still corners of the DC Universe NetherRealm has yet to explore.
The mainline DC and Watchmen universes recently collided in the comic book crossover The Button, so it would be rather timely if Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' were to appear in Injustice 2. GameRant recently asked Injustice 2 producer Ed Boon if Watchmen could show up in the game, and he left the door surprisingly open…
"It's not outside the realm of possibility at all. Unfortunately, there are still so many cool characters that we haven't done that we'll be getting a few of them done with DLC which will be cool. But inevitably someone is going to not make the cut."
GameRant then tried to get Boon to specifically deny Rorschach was in the game, but he wasn't biting.
"I'm not ready to say that yet…"
The grim and gritty Watchmen would certainly fit with the Injustice universe. Heck, the Injustice games may have actually one-upped Watchmen when it comes to going dark. Ed Boon teased Watchmen characters being in Injustice 2 back in November, but he hasn't said much since.
Personally, I'm holding out hope for a fully-pantsless Doctor Manhattan as a DLC character. I suppose that might get the game in trouble with the ESRB, but the Watchmen don't do T-ratings.
Injustice 2 officially hits Xbox One and PS4 on May 16. You can check WWG's latest coverage of Injustice 2 here, and our extensive back catalog of stories, right here.
