Iron Galaxy has been keeping moderately busy as of late, taking over development on Microsoft's Killer Instinct following the departure of Double Helix Games and keeping its community strong through a series of new updates, including the introduction of many fighters. But that hasn't stopped the team from putting in effort on a new project, which it just announced today.

The company has announced that it has paired up with Maximum Games on a new game called Extinction, which it'll be showing off at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in a couple of weeks, behind closed doors.

In Extinction, players take control of Avil, who stands as one of the last Sentinels in the world. They're basically trained to take on enemies that come from an ancient age, in this case the Revenii, a group of giant ogres that want nothing more than to destroy humanity entirely. It's up to Avil to stop them at all costs, using his mighty abilities to get the job done, using the ability to "tactically disarm and dismember enemies," before landing a final blow with Extinction's "dynamic skill-based combat system."

The game doesn't have a release date yet, but it's expected in early 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
