Impulsively grabbed the sexy New Nintendo 2DS XL and not sure what you're going to be able to play on it? Well, thankfully, Nintendo has just dropped release dates and trailers for the anticipated 3DS/2DS exclusives, Monster Hunter Stories and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters.

Monster Hunter Stories is a somewhat different take on Capcom's series than you may be used to. It's not a cooperative action-RPG, but rather, a more traditional turn-based JRPG with a lively anime art style.

Instead of killing monsters and harvesting their bodies, you hatch them from eggs, ride then and use them in battle – so yeah, it's a slightly more kid-friendly approach, but Monster Hunter Stories looks fairly impressive for a 3DS game. Nintendo has also announced a free demo for Monster Hunter Stories will be available on August 10. Check out the latest trailer for the game, above.

For those who have never played a Yo-Kai Watch game, they're essentially Pokemon, but with the cute critters replaced by a variety of strange and sometimes creepy Japanese spirits and folk creatures. Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters is the third version of the game, which adds new Yo-Kai, areas to explore, and story elements. The Nintendo 3DS/2DS has a fairly solid holiday season ahead of it – in addition to Monster Hunter Stories and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters, Nintendo is bringing Metroid: Samus Returns, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon, and a remake of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga to the system. Monster Hunter Stories hits the 3DS on September 8, while Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters materializes on September 29.
