New Spider-Man PS4 Details Emerge At San Diego Comic-Con

The Marvel Games panel just wrapped up at San Diego Comic-Con, and a lot of the traditional bases were covered with the panel, including a Gamora gameplay debut in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, new details about Powers United VR, and Telltale Games' latest chapter of Guardians of the Galaxy. But, of course, we know what a lot of people were attending the panel for – to get a closer look at Insomniac Games' Spider-Man for PlayStation 4.

The game previously got a new reveal at D23 Expo last weekend, with the trailer revealing a few extra seconds of footage, along with an elaborate look behind-the-scenes at Insomniac. Today, Bryan Intihar from Insomniac discussed some of the details behind the game, and revealed some new concept art that Spidey fans are sure to enjoy.

Some discussion came up on how the game became the way it was, as the team worked closely with Marvel executive creative director Bill Rosemann on putting it together. From there, some new concept art for Mister Negative was revealed, which you can see below.

From there, Intihar divulged in some details about how Spider-Man, Mr. Negative and Peter Parker are all connected. We didn't quite get the details from the panel regarding this, but it's probably better to save a few surprises for the story anyway, as players discover what's what for the first time.

Following that, we get a look at some new concept art, as seen above, featuring Spidey and Mister Negative battling inside a subway car. Intihar noted that this will be playable in the game, so you'll be able to bust some heads as you make your way around the small surroundings.

Intihar also spilled details about involved characters. Miles Morales came up again, though was only hinted at; Aunt May plays an active part within the game; and Normal Osborn serves as the city's mayor. Intihar noted that the game is very inspired by the Ultimate Spider-Man saga.

Finally, Rosemann wrapped up Insomniac Games' work on the title, and its non-stop effort to get everything right for Spidey's sake. "We know we have one shot to get it right. We refuse to fail," he noted.

And that concluded the panel. You'll be able to see Spider-Man swing into action when it arrives on PlayStation 4 next year.
