Nintendo may have introduced a number of games today during its Nintendo Direct special – including some that we are very excited about – but it isn't about to leave its hardcore Amiibo fan out in the cold.

The company has introduced a series of new Amiibo figurines that will be released over the next year, alongside their popular game releases – in this case, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Metroid: Samus Returns.

First up, a quartet of characters from Breath of the Wild will be getting special Amiibo, including Daruk, Mipha, Revall and Urbosa. These are expected to be released alongside the forthcoming downloadable content that will be introduced for the game as the year goes on. They don't have a specific release date yet, but they will arrive soon.

Next up, a trio of Super Mario Odyssey themed Amiibo were introduced, including Mario, Peach and Bowser, all dressed up in wedding wear. Mario is probably the most dashing, with his white top hat (with Mario emblem!), although Peach looks great in her wedding dress and, hey, Bowser has a "battle tuxedo", if that's a thing. You can actually connect their hands together if you feel like using the Amiibo for a wedding cake or something like that. (Yes, you can have Peach and Bowser as a couple if you wish.) They're set to release around the same time as Mario Odyssey when it arrives on October 27th.

Finally, just in time for the forthcoming Metroid: Samus Returns, there will be a couple of new Amiibo for that game as well, arriving in September. The first features Samus Aran in a battle pose, while the second features a Metroid perched on a surface.

There's no word as of yet what all this content unlocks, but Nintendo will probably fill us in as the games get closer to release. More than likely, we'll see some bonus costumes within the game, or perhaps even new, unlockable levels for players to go through.

In the meantime, enjoy the gallery of Amiibo figurines, and prepare for another great gaming year from Nintendo!
