Overwatch's new hero Doomfist may have finally arrived just two days ago, but speculation has already turned to who might be joining the game's cast extensive cast next. There's plenty of possibilities floating around, but a new candidate has joined the conversation out of left field thanks to a leak, supposedly from within Blizzard itself.

The leak showed up on Imgur, from an anonymous user named Blackwatchfiles. The poster, who implies they have inside connections to the Overwatch team, claims the rate of new heroes is going to slow down following Doomfist, with the next character not arriving until December. According to our leaker, that hero will be a new defensive specialist called Psyren, who, visually, bears a resemblance to Symmetra and Sombra.

The leak includes a lengthy description of Psyren (check it all out at this link), but the basic gist is that she was a former member of Blackwatch, who still holds a hateful grudge against the Omnics, who she blames for the death of her mother. Psyren is supposedly a speedy defensive character, with some tanking abilities, and a retractable sword that can be hurled at enemies. Sounds like she's kind of a mix of existing characters.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Overwatch fans are divided on the legitimacy of this latest leak. If this is a fake, whoever put it together is both dedicated and skilled. That said, there are red flags – the art for Psyren seems a little off from the official Overwatch house style, and we've yet to see a 3D model of the character. The description of Psyren also seems also too in-depth, as no other hero has been described in such detail. Then again, maybe Blizzard's own personal bios for their characters actually are that lengthy?

Don't expect this leak to be confirmed or refuted for some time. Blizzard is notoriously closed-lipped about such things, and official hype for the next hero won't kick off any time soon.

Overwatch is available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. You can check out WWG's latest coverage of the game here.
