Spider-Man for PS4 will be a somewhat different take on the wallcrawler and his world than you might be used to. As we've established, the game will star an older, wiser, and more self-reliant Spider-Man, and this weekend at the Disney D23 Expo, developer Insomniac Games teased an "Ultimate" approach to the Spidey universe, with plenty of new characters and some classics in roles you might not expect.

Which begs the question – what will be going on with Peter Parker's love life? His romantic endeavors are a core part of any good Spider-Man story, so who's the ol' Webhead dating? Mary Jane? Gwen Stacy? Liz Allen? Somebody more recent like Michelle Gonzales?

Well, it seems eagle-eyed NeoGAF poster Sn4ke_911 may have found the answer. Insomniac showed a behind-the-scenes Spider-Man featurette at D23, which contained a few new pieces of concept art, including this look at Peter Parker's bedroom:

Yup, that appears to be a keychain with the letters "MJ" on it. Now, maybe Mary Jane gave Peter his keys back, but we know she had them at one time! Also, Peter doesn't seem to be making much effort to hide his superheroic activities – he's got mugshots and Spidey tech strewn all around the room. If Mary Jane has access to Peter's apartment, she has to know he's Spider-Man, so they must be pretty serious. Married perhaps?

Insomniac has confirmed their Peter Parker is involved with someone, but that it's "complicated"…

The way Insomniac phrased that makes it sound like there's only one love interest for Peter in the game, and based on that keychain, it seems like that's Mary Jane. As for why their relationship is complicated – well, I guess just have to wait to find out.

Spider-Man swings onto PS4 sometime within the first half of 2018.
