How did it take so for this to happen? The Splatoon series features "guns" that look so much like Super Soakers it's almost patent infringement. And yet, we've yet to see any sort of officially licensed Splatoon water gun. Well, that changes now! Jakks Pacific has announced the Splatoon Splattershot Blaster and Splattershot Mini, which look just like real Splatoon weapons and actually shoot ink!

Here's the official Splattershot Blaster description, courtesy of the Toys R Us website:

What's more fun than playing an inkling in Nintendo's popular Splatoon game? Well, being an inkling in real life of course! Bring the fun of Splatoon to life with the all new Splatoon Splattershot Blaster! Each Splattershot Blaster can fire the water based ink up to 30 feet away. Each Splattershot Blaster includes two canisters of Ink, good for up to 100 shots (50 shots each) - and a pair of Inkling Goggles!

And here's how Toys R Us describes the Splattershot Mini:

Bring the exciting game of Splatoon! to life! Splatoon Mini Quick Shot Blaster provides fun shooting ink that is sticky and safe with 100% nontoxic and washable ingredients. This set includes one Mini Blaster which can shoot over 30 feet, one pair of goggles, and one bottle of Splatoon ink goo.

Wow. Were these intentionally designed to drive parents crazy? I know they say the ink is "washable," but we all know washable markers don't come off as easily as the box says. Also, 100 shots of ink really isn't that much. Your kids will destroy your house in 10 minutes, then immediately start bugging you for more ink. At least, that's what I would have done as a kid.

Splatoon 2, which you should buy for your kid instead of these life-ruining toys, arrives on the Nintendo Switch on July 21.
