Titanfall 2 Getting A New Titan And Map Very Soon – For Free

Respawn Entertainment has been doing an amazing job supporting Titanfall 2 with a bevy of free content following its release late last year – and the hype train isn't slowing down anytime soon.

The team has just confirmed that another new – and free – update is on the way to the game, set to release on May 30th. Along with providing yet another fun multiplayer map for people to work their way through, there will also be a new Titan thrown in for good measure.

The company describes the robot as a Monarch, a "mid-range Vanguard-class" mech that provides the ability to choose from several options for its Upgrade Core. If you stick with a particular choice long enough, you can actually choose a "final form" for it to take, perfect in the heat of battle.

Although Respawn didn't note these upgrades just yet, it did note that the Monarch has the "ability to draw power from enemy Titans to recharge her own shields, or the shields of her friendly Titans." The company has promised to share more details soon.

As for the map, you'll be able to fight your way through Relic, as pictured in the gallery included with this article. It basically functions as a worksite within the game, surrounding a crashed IMC carrier called the Odyssey – a familiar sight from Titanfall 2's campaign mode. "Created with frontlines in mind, the gameplay is all about assaulting and controlling the center and engaging in firefights from the great viewpoints of the ship against the varied defensible positions in the town," the developer explained.

In addition, an existing map, Crashsite, will receive an update with additional ziplines and wallrunning locations for better mobility, and a new execution called the Now You See Mer will also be added, utilizing a player's cloaking capability in a rather sick manner.

More paid content will be added as well, in the form of new Prime Titan designs for Ronin and Tone, along with additional nose art, camos and callsigns, which will be available through the in-store game.

To coincide with the content's release next week, Respawn will also host a special featured mode with Titan Brawl, and all modes will enable you to earn double XP. The team also noted that a "major" balance update will be made to the game in the weeks ahead.

For now, though, you've got plenty to work with in Titanfall 2's latest update. Dig in next week!

Titanfall 2 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
