One of the shocking twists that took place during the time jump that closed out Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 was that Daisy Johnson, played by Chloe Bennet, left S.H.I.E.L.D. to become an independent operator.

But is she a hero or a villain? Vigilante or terrorist? Bennet says that Daisy, an Inhuman with the power to vibrate the Earth and even move mountains, is looking to do more than just shake things up for the sake of shaking things up.

"You'll see coming up that there might be chaos happening and buildings might be collapsing and bridges might have been broken, but people are always miraculously saved and taken care of, the bad guys always seem to be losing," Bennet tells TVLine. "I think she's becoming more of a vigilante than maybe she would like. I think she's trying to do good."

As seen in the flash-forward from the Season 3 finale, Daisy's former allies and surrogate family members, Coulson and Mack, are trying to track her down. So why is Daisy leading them on such a chase in the first place? Why leave S.H.I.E.L.D.? Was it the death of Lincoln that spooked Daisy?

Bennet says that Lincoln is a part of it, but that it's really a sum total of everything that Daisy has gone through in the show's three seasons so far. "She has a bad track record," Bennet says, referring to what transpired with Lincoln, Grant Ward, and both of Daisy's parents. "Daisy cares so much about the people that she's with, the people of S.H.I.E.L.D., that she feels like if she gets too close to them, something bad is going to happen, they'll get hurt. I feel like she's protecting them, in a way, by going rogue."

Daisy going rogue is just one major change coming to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Season 4. Ghost Rider is also set to make his Marvel cinematic universe debut this season, and there's a new Director in town.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.Season 4 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
