Coulson Tells May About The Framework In New Agents Of SHIELD Clip

ABC has released the first sneak peek from this Tuesday's "Farewell, Cruel World!" episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.

Helping to pitch in, May is providing medical care to members of the resistance in the SHIELD lab. Coulson strikes up a conversation with her, sensing that he has a real-world bond with the former Hydra agent. She says she is still trying process all of "Hydra's alternative history," but Coulson tells her that is just the "tip of the iceberg."

The comment piques May's interest. So when she asks him what he meant by that, Coulson explains that they are in the Framework, a simulated world. However, May isn't ready to believe that she is stuck inside of a mind-prison. So if Coulson wants her to believe him, he'll have to show her proof.

IT'S THE END OF S.H.I.E.L.D.'S WORLD – The clock is ticking for Daisy and Simmons to get the team out of the Framework, but not everyone is ready and willing to leave.

Based on that synopsis, we can probably assume that Mack is one of the people that isn't willing to leave. And who could blame him? In the real world, Mack had a daughter named Hope. She was born 11 years ago but died four days after coming into the world. That tragedy destroyed a part of him and his marriage to Nicole. But in the Framework, Hope is alive and Mack gets to be the father he always dreamed he would be. Even when he learns the truth of the virtual prison, he may not want out.

The regular cast features Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie and John Hannah as Holden Radcliffe.

The guest cast includes Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez, Mallory Jansen as Madame Hydra/Aida, Jordan Rivera as Hope Mackenzie, Briana Venskus as Agent Piper, Maximilian Osinski as Agent Davis, Patrick Cavanaugh as Burrows, David O'Hara as Alistair, Ricardo Walker as Agent Prince, Rheagan Wallace as Marilyn, and Richard Whiten as Gedrick.

"Farewell, Cruel World!" was written by Brent Fletcher and directed by Vincent Misiano.
