Last year, 20th Century Fox struck gold when it released Deadpool upon an unsuspecting public. The raunchy, NSFW superhero flick left fans stunned with its self-aware humor and unapologetic violence. With Ryan Reynolds suiting up as the mouthy mercenary, the cult character turned into one of Hollywood's most marketable comic book characters - and the film also brought a few other heroes to the public's attention. After all, if you knew who Negasonic Teenage Warhead was prior to the film, then you are in the minority.

The lesser-known mutant found herself teamed up with Colossus when Deadpool debuted, and the heroine's apathetic personality made her a hit. Filled with scathing quips, Negasonic Teenage Warhead stole scenes from underneath Reynolds, and it seems like the mutant will do so again in Deadpool 2.

Recently, Brianna Hildebrand spoke about her fan-favorite work as Negasonic Teenage Warhead during an interview with Screenrant at SXSW. It was there the rising star was asked about the character's part in Deadpool 2, and Hildebrand said her role is still a punk at heart.

"I've not yet actually read the script," Hildebrand explained before continuing "But I do think she will be a lot cooler, based on the wardrobe ideas and stuff. I'm very excited." She explained she'd just seen some concept art, "Just some ideas, nothing that's concrete or anything. But I think it's cool that she's grown and matured and she still has so much of this essence of a punk kid."

Later on, Hildebrand was questioned over why audiences reacted so favorably towards Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Taking a moment, the answer answered, pinning the cause back to the fact that everyone has felt as angry or angsty as the mutant in their lives at one point.

"I felt so close to Negasonic in that she reminded me so much of myself. Like young, teenage/tweenage, angsty like pissed off Brianna is who she reminded me of," Hildebrand said.

"It was just like, 'Oh! She's so cute. I get her, you know?' So yeah. That was super exciting to see that people liked her too because it felt like people liked me, or the part of me in there somewhere."

The Deadpool sequel is currently in pre-production. Reynolds will return with writer Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. David Leitch will direct. The film will introduce Deadpool's time-traveling mutant partner, Cable, as well as X-Force member Domino. Members of the original film's supporting cast are also expected to return.
