Doctor Strange: Kevin Feige Confirms Rachel McAdams is Not Night Nurse

For almost a year, fans have been hearing that Rachel McAdams would play Night Nurse in the forthcoming Doctor Strange movie -- and with less than a month before that film's release, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has finally weighed in.

His take? Rachel McAdams's character, Christine Palmer, isn't Night Nurse -- at least not yet.

"I will say that that story line does not play into the movie," Feige told Entertainment Weekly, adding that "It's just as much fun for us as it is for the fans to speculate about [future storylines.]"

Before Night Nurse was the name of a recurring character in Marvel's superhero universe, it was a title in the '70s that featured a number of women -- including Christine Palmer -- working at a hospital. It was during Brian Michael Bendis's acclaimed run on Daredevil that one of those characters -- not Palmer -- became Night Nure, caretaker to the superhero set.

The original rumor was that Rosario Dawson would play Night Nurse on Marvel's Daredevil, but while Night Nurse Linda Carter's ties to superheroes were revealed in those comics, she ultimately stepped into the role of love interest for Stephen Strange, so there were reports that Marvel planned to use Night Nurse for the Doctor Strange film franchise. Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight seemingly confirmed those reports at one point.

(Like with DC's shows on The CW, Marvel's TV shows must occasionally cede ground to the higher-profile feature film projects.)

McAdams, for her part, remains quiet about future plans for her character -- so if she knows, she's not saying. Probably smart, given all those "Marvel snipers" jokes...!
